TRIDEC TR Mechanical Steering System

  • Mechanical
  • Rigid Axle
  • Mechanical steering for heavy distribution transport
  • Steers 1, 2 or 3 axles on a 1- to 5-axle trailer
  • Improved manoeuvrability for inner-city deliveries and small roundabouts
  • Direct, play-free steering via the fifth wheel unit and steering rods
  • 10 t axle load; 15 / 20 / 26.5 t fifth wheel load
  • Steering angles up to 45°
  • Also available for trailers with a gooseneck

Built for Heavy Distribution Transport

The TR steering arrangement is a mechanical system used primarily in heavy distribution transport. It steers one, two, or three axles on a one- to five-axle trailer, helping operators make more efficient use of their trailer through improved manoeuvrability in inner-city deliveries and on urban roads with small roundabouts.

  • Heavy distribution transport on one- to five-axle trailers
  • One to three steered axles using turntable mounting frames
  • Common on construction material, tippers, and tankers
  • Linear and progressive fifth wheel unit characteristics available
  • Optional gooseneck configuration (TR-V)

Designed for Better Manoeuvrability

Superior manoeuvrability in tight routes

  • Steers 1, 2, or 3 axles on trailers with 1 to 5 axles
  • Steering angles up to 45°
  • Easier inner-city deliveries and small roundabouts on urban roads
  • Built for construction material, tippers, and tankers
  • More efficient trailer use in confined spaces

Lower operating costs

  • Time through better manoeuvrability
  • Fuel consumption
  • Tyre wear
  • Vehicle maintenance
  • Vehicle damage

Direct, play-free mechanical steering

  • Motion via the fifth wheel plate and TRIDEC steering wedge
  • Two steering rods transfer movement directly to the rear axle frame
  • Multi-axle setups pass motion from the rear axle to other steered axles
  • Linear or progressive fifth wheel characteristics
  • Fifth wheel loads 15 / 20 / 26.5 t; 10 t axle load (legally approved)
  • RDW test report per EEC 70/311 for common 1–2 axle configurations
  • JOST turntable with TRIDEC spline bolts — no re-tightening required
  • KTL-treated components; galvanised options available

  • Gooseneck trailers supported (TR-V / linear gooseneck version)
  • Spring centres 980 / 1100 / 1200 / 1300 mm
  • Axle mounting frame heights: 140 mm standard, 30 mm or 100 mm optional
  • Optional tanker chassis bolt-in fifth wheel and 1300 mm spring centre
  • Mounting profiles welded into chassis for simple, quick installation
  • Maintenance-free ball joints; steering rod length easily adjustable
  • Steering rod supports prevent bending and chattering
  • Centralized greasing block; thrust-plate welding no longer required
