Mechanical Trailer Steering System

TRIDEC BTRG Mechanical Steering System

  • Mechanical
  • Rigid Axle
  • Mechanical steering designed for silo and bulk trailers
  • Steers 1 or 2 axles on a 1- to 3-axle trailer
  • Robust enough for light off-road use, such as remote farms
  • Steering rods alongside the tank — no tank volume compromised
  • 10 t axle load; 15 / 20 t fifth wheel load; 1,300 mm spring centre
  • Progressive steering with angles up to 35°

Built for Silo and Bulk Trailers

The mechanical BTRG steering system is specially designed for silo and bulk trailers. The simple steering system is very robust, making it fit for light off-road situations such as on route or at a remote farm. It steers one or two axles, possibly in combination with one or more rigid axles.

  • Silo and bulk trailers
  • One or two steered axles, optionally with rigid axles
  • Light off-road use, on route or at a remote farm
  • Urban roads, small roundabouts, farms and construction sites

Designed for Better Manoeuvrability

Superior manoeuvrability for bulk transport

  • Progressive steering makes the trailer very agile
  • Steers 1 or 2 axles on a 1- to 3-axle trailer
  • Steering angles up to 35°
  • Easy negotiation of urban roads, small roundabouts, farms and construction sites
  • Steering rods alongside the tank, not compromising valuable tank volume

Lower operating costs

  • Time through better manoeuvrability
  • Fuel consumption
  • Tyre wear
  • Vehicle maintenance
  • Vehicle damage

Robust, direct mechanical steering

  • Motion via the fifth wheel plate and TRIDEC steering wedge
  • Two steering rods transmit the motion to the rear axle mounting frame
  • A third steering rod transmits the motion to the other axle when two are steered
  • Fifth wheel loads 15 / 20 t; 10 t axle load (legally approved)
  • RDW test report per EEC 70/311 for 1–2 steered axles (no. 56210001)
  • JOST turntable with TRIDEC spline bolts — no re-tightening required
  • Maintenance-free ball joints; galvanised steering rods

Flexible fit and easy installation

  • Fifth wheel unit bolted onto the chassis for simple, quick installation
  • Wings with and without offset, in several lengths and widths to set the optimal steering angle
  • Axle mounting frame for 1,300 mm spring centre; height 140 mm (optionally 100 mm)
  • JOST turntable Ø1,200 or 1,300 mm; centralised greasing block
  • Several hoops for different tyre sizes and ride heights
  • Gross weight 1,029 kg (1 axle) / 1,365 kg (2 axles); KTL-treated
