Built for Heavy Duty and Special Transport

The HF-E steering arrangement is a hydraulic system used primarily for heavy duty or special transports. Common applications are (semi) low loaders, where the loading deck height is critical and the trailers can be extended. It lets the trailer meet turning circle requirements while improving manoeuvrability and reducing tyre wear.

Extend HS hydraulic steering with manual control options for improved manoeuvrability in confined spaces. Choose from TRITRONIC automatic alignment, compact cabled or wireless remotes, or the standard manual pump control box.

Hydraulic steering with flexible axle and cylinder units

  • Motion via the fifth wheel plate and TRIDEC steering wedge
  • Two cylinders in the fifth wheel unit connected to two cylinders at the trailer axles
  • Steering rods link the axle units; track rods steer the axle steering lever
  • Longitudinal cylinder unit for 1–3 axles; cross placed cylinder unit for 4 axles or more
  • Standard and heavy-duty axle- and cylinder-units
  • Linear, progressive and progressive short fifth wheel units
  • Fifth wheel loads 15 / 20 / 26.5 / 30 / 45 t; 12 t axle load
  • RDW test report per EEC 70/311 for up to 5 steered axles (no. 56210054 and 56210125)
  • Optional adjustable steering wedge for non-DIN normed fifth wheels

Comprehensive hydraulic control and low maintenance

  • Stainless steel control box with tank, valves, sensors, hand pump, filters and accumulator
  • Colour-coded hydraulic connections; pipes, oil and accumulator block supplied
  • TRITRONIC, Compact (cabled) or MSC II (wireless) manual control
  • 24V system; EMC and ISO7637 tested, RDW E4 certificate available; IP 65 or higher
  • Sealed joints and maintenance-free ball joints — no lubricating needed on the standard version
  • Easy alignment, steering rod length easily adjustable
  • KTL-treated axle units and ball joints; galvanised steering rods; Nikrom piston rods
